We celebrated Women’s History Month with exciting events supporting current and future women leaders and recognizing the many contributions the women of Best & Flanagan have made to our firm and our communities.
On February 28, 2022, Best & Flanagan sponsored Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal’s ninth annual Mentoring Monday event. Over 200 professional women from diverse industries and sectors across the Twin Cities came together to make connections and learn from one another. Best & Flanagan’s Managing Partner, Sarah Crippen, participated as a mentor, sharing her professional experience and path to leadership with dynamic business women invested in their own career potential. This event was one of 43 simultaneously held by American City Business Journals all over the country involving some of the most influential women in their respective business communities.
Eight attorneys from the firm were selected to the 2021 Minnesota Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists and are recognized in the annual list of Top Women Attorneys in Minnesota, published in the March/April 2022 issues of Minnesota Super Lawyers Magazine, Mpsl.St.Paul Magazine, and Twin Cities Business. Congratulations to Katie Barrett Wiik, Karolina Brekken-Hoerl, Amy Conners, Sarah Crippen, Cathy Gorlin, Jennifer Lammers, Jen Olson, and Mary Shearen.
Finally, in November 2021 Girl Scouts River Valleys (GSRV) launched a new leadership development program, gsLead. Best & Flanagan partnered with them throughout the six-part series to support the growth of future leaders and changemakers. In December, we co-hosted a virtual session focused on identifying our leadership styles and how to leverage those unique strengths in and out of the workplace. On March 20, 2022, we hosted the gsLead cohort in-person during a tour of the Hennepin County Government Center, discussed oral advocacy and developed arguments during a mini mock-trial, and provided an overall look at how the legal process can effect change.
We are invested in the future of young women, and we continue to recognize the unique and important role women and their potential play in building our firm and our communities.
