Women’s History Month at Best & Flanagan

Best & Flanagan continued the tradition of recognizing, supporting and celebrating both current and future, professional and community leaders through a number of exciting events this month.

On March 5, Best & Flanagan sponsored gsLead, a leadership development program created by Girl Scouts River Valleys. This six-part series, attended by nearly 40 participants, was designed to support the growth of future leaders and changemakers. Our session focused on identifying personal strengths and leadership styles, and practicing advocacy skills through identifying our values and speaking up for what you believe in.

On International Women’s Day, two of our own Girl Scouts set up their cookie booth in our offices. The Girl Scout Cookie Program creates opportunities for young entrepreneurs to learn, grow, and thrive by teaching them invaluable skills, such as goal setting, money management, and people skills, needed to succeed throughout their lives. Girl Scouts River Valleys is one of the top 10 cookie-selling councils in the country, and we made short work of their inventory.

Professionally, we commend nine attorneys from the firm who were selected to the 2022 Minnesota Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists and are recognized in the annual list of Top Women Attorneys in Minnesota, published in the March/April 2023 issues of Minnesota Super Lawyers Magazine, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, and Twin Cities Business Magazine. Congratulations to Karolina Brekken-Hoerl, Amy Conners, Elizabeth Cox, Sarah Crippen, Libby Davydov, Cathy Gorlin, Megan Kunze, Jennifer Lammers, and Mary Shearen.

Finally, we also hosted a special Wellbeing Workshop focused on establishing balance and avoiding burnout by learning how it manifests and originates in systems, and how to navigate challenging conversations by saying no, setting boundaries, investing in ourselves, and making work/life balance a priority. Dr. Amelia Reigstad, Ph.D. joined us to discuss how understanding gender differences and communication styles can lead to more effective communication and productivity. Named one of Twin Cities Business Magazine's Notable Women Entrepreneurs in 2022, Dr. Reigstad inspires and encourages women to use their voice to initiate change through authentic communication.

We are invested in the future of women, and we continue to recognize the unique and important role women and their potential play in building our firm and our communities.
