Tim Sullivan is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice area. His practice focuses on civil litigation and appeals, primarily in the areas of construction, commercial, employment, probate and real estate disputes. He primarily serves commercial and industrial contractors, owners and subcontractors. Tim also represents physicians and clinics and has served as general counsel to LifeSource (the Upper Midwest Organ Procurement Organization) since its inception. He has worked on many bid disputes, OSHA cases and commercial and construction cases establishing new and helpful principles for his clients. He has extensive experience with estate and shareholder disputes.

Tim is a senior fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He has also been included among The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Construction Litigation and Real Estate Litigation. Specifically in 2014 Best Lawyers named Tim as the 2014 Lawyer of the Year for Construction in Minneapolis, MN. He also has been named a “Super Lawyer” numerous times and is routinely named one of Minnesota’s top construction attorneys by Chambers USA. Tim continues to lecture frequently on construction and health care topics.

  • Resolved several multi-million dollar construction and other complicated claims for owners, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Worked on disputes in states across the country.
  • Client prevailed in recent 8th Circuit case on Federal Court pleading standard resulting in successful motion to dismiss.

Significant cases include:

  • Rice v. Connolly, in which the Minnesota law authorizing off-track betting was found unconstitutional by the Minnesota Supreme Court.
  • Glenwood Bridge v. City of Minneapolis, in which a contractor established a civil rights violation in the letting of public work resulting in an injunction issued by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • WDSI v. Steele County, extending the right to seek public data from the designers of public projects.
