When he’s not in the office, in court, or watching his beloved Timberwolves from section 106, Ryan loves to see concerts at First Ave., the Palace Theater, the Turf Club, or one of the many incredible venues throughout the Twin Cities. But no game or band can measure up to shooting hoops, reading stories, watching movies, and traveling with his wife and two young sons.
Ryan P. Malone is an attorney at Best & Flanagan whose practice spans commercial litigation and outside general counsel work for business clients.
Most litigators are valuable once a dispute lands. Ryan’s clients rely on him well before that — to structure deals, review and negotiate contracts, and spot compliance problems early, precisely so litigation becomes the exception rather than the outcome. When a matter does require trial counsel, he’s ready; but his first instinct is to read a situation the way a business owner does, weigh what’s actually at stake, and steer toward the result that serves the business — not just the one that wins the fight.
Ryan has successfully handled matters ranging from summary judgment victories in commercial contract disputes to a two-week defense verdict in an Iowa product-liability trial. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, and has worked on matters involving commercial contracts, insurance coverage, construction, whistleblower claims, and class actions.
Ryan keeps clients in the loop and answers when they call — they know what’s happening, what their options are, and what he recommends. And he’s straight with them throughout: candid about hard truths, and creative about finding a better route when one exists.
