I chose a career in law because I like working with others to solve problems.
Maria is a dynamic and practical advocate who works with her clients to find cost-effective solutions to their legal questions. She handles construction and business cases on behalf of business and property owners, general contractors, sub-contractors and individuals. She has successfully litigated breach of contract and construction defect claims, insurance coverage disputes, mechanic’s liens, surety and bond claims and lien waivers. She also regularly advises clients on bid protests, contract negotiations and licensing and tax disputes.
Maria’s litigation practice is complemented by her role as the City Attorney for the City of Golden Valley. She advises the City on land use and development matters, public contracting, licensing and permitting, employment issues, real estate transactions, policy development and a wide variety of regulatory issues. She uses her knowledge of government and municipal law to help her business and individual clients succeed in matters involving cities or other government agencies.
Maria is an Adjunct Professor of contract law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Before her career in law, Maria worked in banking, advising clients on lending transactions, and as a law clerk at a major Minnesota-based insurance company where she evaluated complex insurance coverage issues.
