Best & Flanagan Welcomes Three Summer Associates

Best & Flanagan is excited to welcome its 2019 Summer Associates. 

Maria Agostinho is a 2020 J.D. candidate at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she is a Student Ambassador and member of the Black Law Students Association. Maria has assisted Volunteer Lawyers Network attorneys with client intake regarding asylum, naturalization and citizenship, and visas; and guided clients through completing petitions for divorce under the supervision of a family law attorney at the Southern Minnesota Legal Services Pro Se Dissolution Clinic. Prior to law school, Maria interned at the Office for Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action at the University of Minnesota, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Human Resource Development.

Caleb Gerbitz is a 2020 J.D. candidate at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he is a member of the Student Bar Association, President of the Federal Bar Association MH Chapter and Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society. Caleb’s legal experience includes volunteer assistance with the Hennepin County Self-Help Center, clerking at Hinshaw & Culbertson, and interning with the United States Attorney’s Office. Prior to law school, Caleb interned at the Wisconsin State Senate and State Assembly before becoming a Policy Advisor & Committee Clerk where he guided bills through research, drafting, and advocacy phases of the legislative process. Caleb is a Master-at-Arms, Petty Officer Second Class with the United State Navy Reserve, and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Michael Villafranca is a 2020 J.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota Law School, where he is a Maynard Pirsig Moot Court participant. Michael joins Best & Flanagan following a clerkship with the First District Public Defender’s Office where he represented, and made oral arguments on behalf of, in-custody defendants for bail hearings. Prior to law school, Michael worked as an account executive and recruiter negotiating terms of employment offers and developing business accounts. Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Boston College.
