Photo of Family Law AttorneyBest & Flanagan has responded to clients needing assistance in personal family matters by establishing a family law section. Among the areas in which our lawyers have extensive experience are dissolution of marriage (divorce), adoption, prenuptial agreements, child custody, paternity, child support, spousal maintenance (alimony) and all post-decree matters.

"Our Family Law clients participate in the process. We educate them, and they are the decision makers."

— Cathy Gorlin

Clients have presented us with a wide range of interesting and challenging goals, which frequently include business, tax and real estate implications. We have represented parties with multi-million dollar estates, challenged prenuptial agreements, valued businesses, returned custody of abducted children, and helped grandparents gain custody of their grandchildren.

Headed by a past Chairperson of both the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association Family Law Sections, the firm's family law practice is enhanced by the broad expertise of the other firm sections. We frequently work with real estate and tax lawyers when cases require specialized knowledge.

We recognize that our clients are the decision makers, and we work hard to understand and achieve their goals. At the same time, we feel it is our responsibility to educate our clients, by providing them with information regarding the full range of risks and alternatives which apply to their matters.
