Robert L. Meller, Jr. has achieved much success as a commercial trial lawyer regularly representing cities, banks, insurance and title insurance companies in litigation involving employment matters, insurance and reinsurance, title insurance coverage and claims, loans, letters of credit and guarantees. In his 30 years of practice, Robert has achieved significant jury verdicts and judgments on behalf of his lending clients.
Representation of his insurance company clients before the insurance commissioners of several states has been a key part of Robert’s practice. As part of his insurance work, he has also become expert in all insurance regulatory matters. His work in the industry includes serving as outside General Counsel for Security Life of America for the past decade.
Robert has also had the honor of serving as the City Attorney for the City of Wayzata for 30 years. His experience as a City Attorney and extensive municipal law expertise has made him a particularly effective representative of municipalities, property owners and developers in matters of land use and land use litigation.
As an experienced trial lawyer, Robert has been instrumental in cases that have defined trial procedure. Robert led the defense of Wells Fargo in litigating the case Uselman vs. Wells Fargo, which set the standards for Rule 11 bad faith procedural violations in Minnesota.
