James M. Christenson

James M. Christenson is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Commercial Lending practice areas. His areas of concentration include commercial real estate related transactions, including loans, purchases, options, leasing and land development matters.

Jim represents institutional lenders, including banks, insurance companies, mortgage bankers and real estate owners and developers, both as borrowers and lenders in connection with real estate and other commercial transactions. He has significant experience with multi-state lending transactions, and in the enforcement of real estate remedies, including foreclosures and receiverships.

Jim has represented various banks, life insurance companies and other commercial lenders in connection with permanent and construction financing of industrial, warehouse, office, retail and multi-family properties. He has also represented sellers and purchasers in connection with multi-million dollar commercial sales, including 1031 exchange transactions. Jim has also acted as local Minnesota counsel assisting non-Minnesota counsel in connection with both multi-state and Minnesota transactions.

Jim has been active in a number of civic activities. He has served as a member and as Chair of the Planning Commission for both the City of St. Paul and the City of Woodbury, as well as serving on the Woodbury Economic Development Board. He provided pro bono assistance for several years to a statewide church umbrella organization and is a member of the Minneapolis Downtown YMCA Community Board. Jim has regularly been named a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on active duty from 1968 to 1972.
