Best & Flanagan
John T. Sullivan is an associate in Best & Flanagan’s Litigation and Employment and Labor groups. Jack handles matters from all practice groups in his litigation practice. In Employment and Labor, Jack draws both from his legal experience and from the practical experience gained in his first career as a newspaper reporter and newsroom manager to advise business and individual clients.
Jack served as law clerk to Associate Justice G. Barry Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court before joining Best & Flanagan. At the University of Minnesota Law School, he served as the founding editor-in-chief of the ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law, wrote an article on special-needs trusts that was published in Law & Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice, and earned the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in Labor and Employment Law. Since 2007, he has been a member of the board of directors of the Minnesota Justice Foundation, which coordinates the pro bono efforts of volunteer law students and lawyers to provide legal assistance for under-represented Minnesotans. Jack had a notable career as a journalist before becoming a lawyer, including service as a regional political correspondent for The Associated Press in Washington, D.C., as a newspaper and AP reporter in Fargo, N.D., and as a local news team leader at the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
