Jason
Tarasek is an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution
section. Jason was named in 2007 by Minnesota's legal community
as a “Rising Star,” according to Minnesota Law & Politics
magazine. Jason practices in all areas of commercial
litigation but focuses his practice primarily upon real-estate litigation,
environmental law and intellectual-property matters.
His
representative accomplishments include:
Commercial Litigation: Negotiated settlement with
favorable terms for client sued for negligently misplacing a cargo
shipment;
Real-Estate Litigation: Successfully obtained withheld
payments for contractors through the initiation of numerous mechanic's-lien
foreclosure actions;
Real-Estate Litigation: Prevailed on summary judgment
for a land developer engaged in a dispute regarding property acquisition;
Environmental Law: Negotiated a substantial penalty
reduction of a monetary fine issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency;
Intellectual Property: Obtained stipulated settlement
whereby defendant agreed to alter trademark after client sued for
infringement; and
Intellectual Property: Successfully persuaded website
operators around the world to remove client's images that were posted
on
the internet without her consent.
Prior
to joining the firm, Jason served as an Assistant District Counsel
for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers -- San Francisco District.
In that capacity, Mr. Tarasek litigated multiple employment-discrimination
matters; resolved various contract disputes; and enforced environmental
laws, including the Clean Water Act, Rivers and Harbors Act and
Endangered Species Act.
During
law school, Jason externed for the Hon. Phyllis J. Hamilton, a federal
judge in the Northern District of California.
