Barbara
Ross is a member of the firm's Government and Land Development Law,
Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Real Estate Law practice areas.
Barbara's practice focuses on real estate litigation, condemnation,
land use, and construction law. Her experience in real estate
litigation matters includes cases involving construction claims,
zoning issues, inverse condemnation, fraud and misrepresentation,
boundary disputes, leasing disputes, mechanic's lien actions, contract
for deed cancellations, quiet title actions, partition actions,
and real estate contract disputes. Barbara's clients include
individuals, small corporations, government clients, and title companies.
Representative
trial and hearing work includes representation of contractors and
owners in construction defect cases, such as a defective roof on
an industrial building and moisture intrusion on a residential property,
sellers and purchasers in fraud and misrepresentation cases, and
condemning authority and owners in condemnation cases, including
several cases that involved a substantial volume of parcels. Barbara
has successfully defeated title claims for title companies, including
a recent summary judgment in Federal Court on the Rooker-Feldman
doctrine.
Barbara
serves on the board of the Eminent Domain Committee and is past
chair of the Real Property Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association.
She is a member of the Litigation and Real Property Sections
of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Barbara is active in Minnesota Commercial Real Estate Women,
having served on the Board of Directors and as chair of the Programs
Committee.
In addition, Barbara has lectured for continuing
legal education and provides pro bono services to the Volunteer Lawyers
Network. In her free time, she enjoys boating, golfing, and
spending time with family.
