Steve Kruger is a member of the firm's Business Law and Native American Law practice areas. His main areas of concentration are closely held corporations, LLC's and partnerships, business income tax issues, nonprofit/tax exempt organizations, and Native American tax issues.

Steve specializes in helping closely held businesses, including family businesses, plan for their businesses, plan for succession, and manage income tax matters. His work often includes integrating and coordinating business planning with personal and family estate planning. Recent transactions include forming family limited partnerships, forming private foundations, assisting a large family-owned business in buying out a shareholder, and assisting the founder of a business as he planned for transfer of the business to his sons. One of his most significant accomplishments was helping a family business—owned by 95 family members—sell their business for a substantial profit.

Steve frequently lectures on topics in corporate and business law, taxation and nonprofit organizations. He has been named a Super Lawyer by Minnesota Law & Politics. Steve also holds a CPA Certificate.

His pro bono work includes serving on the Board of Directors of the nonprofit corporations Volunteers of America and Senior Resources, assisting in the formation of several nonprofit corporations, and assisting with a church merger. He takes part in a number of volunteer and civic activities, including church activities and coaching youth basketball and baseball. In his free time, Steve enjoys sports, travel and nature.
