Morris Knopf is a member of the firm's Business Law, Native American Law and Public Finance Law practice areas.   He practices in the area of public finance, including bond counsel and underwriter's counsel, project finance, non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations and Native American financing.

Morris represents state agencies and political subdivisions, investment banking institutions, lenders, non-profit organizations, and Native American tribes or financial institutions lending to tribes. He assists clients in the arrangement and completion of financing transactions to raise capital to meet public improvement needs or charitable, non-profit needs such as low and moderate income housing, healthcare facilities, private activity bonds, private college facilities, senior housing or assisted living facilities, and Native American governmental facilities and casinos.

Recent transactions include closing three bank financings utilizing conventional loan documents to finance the construction of two charter school buildings and of an assisted living facility, as well as closing both publicly offered tax-exempt bond transactions and privately placed tax-exempt bond transactions for new projects.  A significant professional accomplishment was serving as lead attorney in structuring the initial financing for the Polk Country, Iowa pari-mutuel racetrack.

He has been actively involved with the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) since 1979, serving a three-year term on that organization's Board of Directors. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Minneapolis Institute of Public Finance. In his free time, Morris enjoys playing golf, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.  He has a passion for travel and endeavors to visit a new place each year.
